CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County waterparks go to the dogs to wrap up the 2016 season.
Whirlin' Waters in North Charleston and Splash Island in Mount Pleasant will celebrate the dog days of summer by allowing man's best friend to enjoy the pools and wading areas. After wrapping up the season for swimmers on Labor Day, people are invited to bring their pooch out for Dog Day Afternoon either Saturday or Sunday.
Splash Island Waterpark will be open from 12-5 p.m. Saturday, September 10 and dogs can swim at Whirlin' Waters from 12-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 11.
Dogs will be allowed to swim in the pools, shallow wading areas and lazy rivers. Swimming will not be allowed for humans. Dogs must be current on all vaccinations to be allowed entry. The animals do not have to remain on a leash, but owners should keep track of their dogs at all times.
Space for the Splash Island event on Saturday will be limited to only 300 tickets for $10 ($8 for Charleston County residents) per dog. Sunday's event at Whirlin' Waters will have 1,000 tickets available for $15 each. Owners are free with their dogs.
Tickets will be available at the gate, but could sell out so purchasing in advance is encouraged.
