MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

An Air Force veteran traveling 2,500 miles by bicycle from Lubec, Maine to West Palm Beach, Fla. will stop at Patriots Point and conduct a flag-folding ceremony.

Officials say Col. Gary West will be at Patriots Point on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. for the Patriot Honor Ride which raises awareness and provides the public with opportunities to participate in various acts of gratitude.

The ceremony will begin by 2:30 p.m.

According to Patriots Point officials, Col. West was an F-15/F-16 fighter pilot who served 26 years and saw combat in Iraq and Bosnia.

"The 15 flags that West is traveling with represent Folds of Honor recipient families from the fifteen states traveled during the trip," officials said.
