CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It seems like this has been one of the longest Presidential election cycles I can remember, but time is running short.
We're now two months, just 60 days away from deciding who will lead the most powerful country in the world for the next four years. Hmm. That's a little spooky. Instead of hearing about the issues, it's been more about who can one-up the other with the most mean-spirited insult, or deleted emails, tax returns or who's health is better.
Who's ahead in the polls depends on which way the wind is blowing.
And now, the Richmond Times Dispatch, one of the leading newspapers in America, has endorsed the third-party Libertarian candidate. The editorial board calls it the autumn of our electoral discontent. In these final days leading up to Nov. 8, I hope the candidates and especially the American voter will do some deep, deep soul searching.
So much is at stake.
Franklin Roosevelt spoke these words in 1938, but they are especially relevant today: "Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely."
