2016 James Island Connector Run Information

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The James Island Connector Run is set for Saturday, Oct. 22 with pre and post-race festivities at Cannon Park downtown.

The race route starts and finishes on Bennett Street close to Ashley Avenue.

"The top five male and female finishers will receive cash awards, in addition to age group awards," officials said."This is the ONLY point-to-point 5k in the state, and if you want a personal record, it's a FAST course."

Organizers released the following information on the run:

"The Charleston James Island Connector Run benefits the Gavalas Kolanko Foundation (GKF), a local charity that awards annual scholarships to students with physical disabilities at in the Lowcountry. To date, the GKF has awarded more than 115 scholarships to students with disabilities at the College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, the Citadel, Trident Technical College and the Art Institute of Charleston. Help us award even more scholarships by signing up for our race! www.gkfoundation.org" 

GFK has awarded 134 scholarships and over $700,000.
