BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office says a missing 21-year-old Summerville woman has been found safe in the Upstate.

BCSO authorities announced Tuesday afternoon that Alyson Kayla Paige was found in the Anderson area.

"Our detectives were able to verify her location and had a law enforcement officer from the upstate," BCSO officials said."She is safe and healthy."

Paige had been reported missing on Sept. 8 by her parents.

Deputies began their search after responding to a home in Summerville regarding a woman believed to be in danger.

Paige's parents told deputies that their daughter was staying at their home with her boyfriend for a few days, then left.

The mother told investigators she received a text message that she did not believe was her daughters.

The mother told the sheriff's office she did not believe her daughter wrote the message, saying it does not match her writing style.

The sheriff's office says authorities contacted the Anderson County Sheriff's Office since Paige's boyfriend is from the area and still has ties there.

Paige's friends were worried about her and spoke on Monday as authorities were continuing their search for her.

Sherry Smith is a longtime family friend and has known Paige since Paige was three years old.

"I'm terrified for her right now because she was like a daughter to me,"Smith said on Monday.

Paige's close friend is Brittany Hayes.

"Every since she left, her mom's been trying to ping her phone and find out where she's at and apparently the phone doesn't stay on for longer than minutes."

Hayes says since Paige has been missing they've received texts from her phone saying that's she's safe, but they haven't been able to hear her voice.

"Very confusing I don't know what's going on [and] even if that even is her and I doubt that it is and I'm scared for her honestly," Hayes said.
