CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A judge set bond Tuesday afternoon for the second suspect arrested in the reported sexual assault of a College of Charleston student.
James F. West III, 22, is charged with engaging a child for sexual performance, according to Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis. West was released on a $15,000 surety bond, according to court records. The judge also instructed West to have no contact with the alleged victim or her family members, court records state.
The student, 17, was reportedly assaulted on Aug. 27 at an address in the 200 block of Ashley Avenue, Francis said.
Timothy Eli Seppi, 21, was arrested on Aug. 28 and charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
A Charleston police report states officers responded to MUSC on the night of Aug.27 and spoke to a doctor who said the victim had been sexually assaulted.
The victim told officers she was sexually assaulted at a home on Ashley Avenue on Aug. 27 between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. by two unknown males.
Seppi was originally arrested on Aug. 28 for possession of cocaine and simple possession of marijuana and was arrested on Sept. 2 on the sexual exploitation counts, court records indicate.
West was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing Tuesday afternoon, Francis said.
