CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

Heavy rain caused by Tropical Storm Julia has forced Charleston city officials to postpone the West Ashley Farmers Market until Sept. 21.

The event was scheduled to open this Wednesday.

Tropical Storm Julia formed over the coast of northeastern Florida Tuesday night and is expected to bring heavy rain to the Lowcountry throughout the week as it moves north.

Meteorologist Joey Sovine says bands of heavy rain will produce 3-6 inches this week with higher amounts possible in isolated areas.
