NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston City Council will hear plans to put a new grocery store in a plaza that has been empty for years.
Shipwatch Square sits on 18 acres near Rivers Avenue and McMillan.
The center is in the middle of what's called a food desert, an area with no grocery stores within miles.
Appian Investments wants to buy the lot from the city for a little more than 3.3 million dollars.
The company plans to put in a grocery store, along with office spaces, retail and multi-family housing.
