CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Traffic is moving again on the Ashley River Bridges after one of them became stuck in the open position.
The bridge leaving the city of Charleston was locked in the open position according to a tweet from Charleston police.
However, moments after that tweet went out, it appeared traffic on the bridge going into downtown Charleston from West Ashley was stopped on the bridge.
By 4:10 p.m., traffic on both bridges appeared to be moving again.
According to sciway.net, the left bridge, which takes traffic from downtown Charleston to West Ashely, opened in 1926. The right bridge, which takes traffic from West Ashley into downtown Charleston, opened in the 1960s.
The two bridges remain among the last drawbridges in the state.
