BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Berkeley County is honoring a special woman.

Friday is "Mary Garey Grantham Day." Grantham, of Moncks Corner, is celebrating her 100th birthday.

She was born in Williamsburg County on Sept. 16, 1916.

Her parents, Dave and Annie Garey, lived in the Sutton's Community.  She was the only girl in the family and is the sole survivor of five children.

She married Henry B. Grantham, Sr. in 1943 and they had six children, including twin boys.

Grantham still loves working in her yard. She is a lifetime member of Irving Chapel AME Church.

In honor of her 100th birthday, Berkeley County Supervisor Bill Peagler issued a proclamation declaring today "Mary Garey Grantham Day" in Berkeley County.
