NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - North Charleston police are investigating a shooting in North Charleston Sunday night.

Officers responded at approximately 8:07 p.m. to the 4000 block of Briarstone Court in reference to shots fired and located a victim with a gunshot wound to his leg, an incident report states.

The victim told police he was out front cleaning his van when two unknown men walked up from behind. One of the men pulled a small black handgun and demanded money, according to the victim. The victim stated that he did not have any money and was hit in the head by one of the men.

The men took the victim's phone and then fired off several shots striking the victim in the lower left leg, the report states.

The man told police his two young sons were with him at the time of the robbery.

The men fled on foot in an unknown direction, police say.

The victim was treated by EMS and transported to Trident Hospital for further evaluation.
