NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - South Carolina's oldest operating brewery is getting a new home and Park Circle is throwing an Oktoberfest party to celebrate.
The North Charleston neighborhood's Oktoberfest, "Welcoming Palmetto to the Circle," will be a free event for all ages. EVO Pizzeria and The Brew Cellar will host the event Saturday, October 1 at O'Hear Avenue and Empire Avenue, the future site of the brewery. The festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature food, drinks, live music and more.
North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey and City Council will be on hand to discuss future development in Park Circle and lead a traditional Dedication of the Taps. In addition to Palmetto Brewing Company, the nearby Garco Mill development will also feature a 271-unit apartment community. Details of the new apartments will be on display as well.
Palmetto Brewing will offer each of its local beers and introduce a traditional Oktoberfest Märzen, made especially for the festival. Local vendors and restaurants will serve up Bavarian food to fit the Oktoberfest theme. All food and drink options will be pay-as-you-go.
