Mt. Pleasant police searching for suspect following armed robbery

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are searching for a suspect following an armed robbery in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.

At 6:10 a.m., officers with Mt. Pleasant police responded to Lafayette Village for a reported armed robbery of a person.

"The suspect was able to make off with the victim's wallet," police said

Mt. Pleasant police officials describe the suspect as unknown race male wearing a black shirt, a black zip up hoodie, and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Investigations Bureau at 843-884-4176.

"Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111, submit a tip through our smartphone application, or submit a tip at Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to an arrest."

Charleston County Dispatch said officers had responded to a reported robbery in the I'On community around 6:20 a.m.

James B. Edwards Elementary was on precautionary lockdown as officers searched the area.

The lockdown has since been lifted.
