Officers searching for woman in connection to fatal Summerville shooting

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are searching for a woman in connection to a fatal shooting in Summerville.

The Summerville Police Department is looking Disiree "Dezzy" Williams who is wanted for obstruction of justice. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

"During a canvass of the area officers located a black male suffering from a gunshot wound in the backyard of a residence," SPD officials said.

Police said the male, later identified as Stefon Chapman of Summerville, succumbed to his injuries.

"During the investigation it was learned that a male was at a local hospital and reported being shot at Magnolia Apartments," authorities said.

The victim told officers that as he was speaking to a woman named "Dezzy," he was approached by a masked gunman who began to fire at him.

"The victim reported that he retrieved his handgun and returned fire," authorities said."The male sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and drove to the hospital for treatment."

According to Summerville police, further investigation identified Williams as "Dezzy" who is also a female companion of Chapman.

A report states Williams was captured on video surveillance with the victim minutes before the shooting, and reported to investigators that she does not know the victim and never had any contact with him.

Williams is wanted for Obstruction of Justice by police and is known to frequent the Ladson and Summerville area.
