CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The man shot and killed by police in Charlotte, leading to more than a week of protests and riots, will be buried in the Charleston area.
That makes sense. Keith Lamont Scott was born in South Carolina. His late father was a police detective. His mother still lives here.
Regardless of the circumstances of someone's death, every man and woman deserves a respectful and peaceful funeral.
And that's what we hope this will be.
This story has attracted worldwide attention, and no doubt, there will be a mountain of media coverage, not only from Charlotte, but also from the major networks. And local law enforcement will have to be prepared for the possibility of large crowds who travel here to attend Scott's funeral.
Let's hope everyone will take pause and remember funerals are a time for grieving for family and friends.
What, why and how it happened, is for another time.
