NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston International Airport will operate normally Thursday as Hurricane Matthew approaches the Lowcountry, according to a Charleston County Aviation Authority spokeswoman.
Authorities expect the airport to be very busy throughout the day as many of the passengers have rescheduled flights out of the area.
Officials urge customers to allow extra time to park, check in with airlines and go through the security screening checkpoint.
Lines are expected to be longer during the check in and screening process.
Passengers and those meeting arrivals should contact their airline for up-to-date flight status information, to include delays, cancellations and, if necessary, rebooking flights.
Operation hours for Friday were not immediately available.
Authorities said information will be posted at a later time and will be dependent upon weather conditions, forecasts for the hurricane and airline operations.
