NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Charleston International Airport will be open Friday, with limited air service provided by the airlines, according to the airport website.
Authorities with the Charleston County Aviation Authority do not anticipate there will be air service in or out of Charleston International Saturday.
Passengers are urged to contact their airline directly to rebook flights and to receive the most up-to-date information about delays and cancellations.
Friday air service canceled:
- Alaska Airlines
- United Airlines
Friday partial air service:
- Delta airlines – will cancel all flights after 1 p.m. The last arrival will be at noon. Delta’s final departure Friday will be at 12:50 p.m.
Friday air service still on:
- Southwest airlines: Representatives said they will continue to monitor Hurricane Matthew
- Delta: Weather permitting, plans to resume operations on Sunday around 11 a.m.
Authorities said the moved to limited air services follows Joint Base Charleston's decision to close the Charleston runways at 11:59 p.m. Friday.
Joint Base Charleston owns the runways at Charleston International Airport, which has use via a joint use agreement with the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense.
