JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Hurricane Matthew's fierce winds caused trees to fall on two homes in a James Island neighborhood.
The storm caused an oak tree on Plymouth Avenue in Riverland Terrace to topple onto Jackie Fink's house.
Fink who wasn't home at the time says she got the bad news from some friends.
"After I texted them to see how things were, they just texted me back and said not good," Fink said Sunday.
Fink couldn't believe her eyes when she got to see for herself
"Obviously was shocked and was in disbelief that I didn't have interior damage," Fink said.
"If I had been in my bed just right there, it probably would not have been such a good thing."
Over on Stono Drive in the same neighborhood, an even larger tree fell onto a house.
The tree's so big that it's difficult to see the house.
A neighbor told me the woman who lives there wasn't home when it happened.
"I went outside around 10 o'clock and looked outside and it was there very dramatically over her house so it was not heard by me but very scary to see. Luckily she was not there," Eliza Ingle said.
Meanwhile, Fink has to figure out how she's going to get the tree off her house.
She knows the outcome could have been a lot worse.
"And I'm alive thank goodness and I appreciate it," she said.
