FOLLY BEACH, SC (WCSC) - Authorities say they will open Folly Beach to all traffic Tuesday afternoon but did not rule out a curfew if full power isn't restored by Tuesday night.
"Portions of Ashley Avenue, particularly East of 12th Street, will still be closed to the general public due to safety issues," Folly Beach City Administrator Spencer Wetmore said.
Wetmore also cautioned about the possibility of downed power lines remaining while SCE&G crews work to restore power. Lines will be live and there is a potential for electrocution if touched, sparks or fires for water flooded receptacles.
A curfew will be put in place for the island from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. Wednesday if full power is not restored Tuesday night, Wetmore said.
All businesses will have to be closed to the public by 9:30 p.m. to have all traffic off the island by 10 p.m.
Folly Beach officials say they will provide updates on power restoration Tuesday afternoon.
