Charleston police investigating shots fired into West Ashley home, vehicle

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Police investigated a report of shots fired at a home and car on Shadowmoss Parkway Sunday night.

The victim told police someone had fired at least five bullets into his home between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., while the family was out to dinner.

Police recovered a fired round from a front exterior door but found no shell casings, according to an incident report.

Police reported the window of the front door was broken by one round, a second round was lodged in the wood frame of the front door, a third round penetrated the vinyl siding of the front porch, a fourth penetrated vinyl siding above the garage and a fifth struck the right rear trunk area of the victim's car, the report states.

A witness told police he heard what he believed to be fireworks at approximately 6:40 p.m. Sunday while sitting in a yard a few doors down. The witness did not see a vehicle or anyone on foot leaving the area, the report states.

The case may be related, police say, to a similar case that occurred the same day. In that case, the victim told police he got into a confrontation with three men in a charcoal-gray-colored Ford Fusion with dark tinted windows. The men pointed a firearm at the victim.

A second witness, who knew of the confrontation, saw three men matching the description of the men involved, were inside an area grocery store purchasing beer and heard one of them say, "Let's get some beer before we do this," the report states. She did not see the men leave the store.

The men have not yet been identified.

Police say surveillance cameras may have recorded the men and the investigation is ongoing.
