Authorities say a substation in Georgetown County exploded Wednesday evening.
According to officials, the substation is located in Andrews at Saints Delight and Pennyroyal roads, and it exploded when it re-energized.
No injuries have been reported.
According to a report by WMBF, Santee Cooper said the Sampit substation was damaged by fire.
It is being assessed by company officials.
"As more and more electricity is restored, the public is reminded how dangerous all power lines are," said Adrel Langley for Santee Cooper. "Never assume power lines are not energized."
Emergency personnel and the utility company responded.
Residents reported hearing the explosion Wednesday evening.
One witness said emergency personnel told him to leave the area as crews responded to the scene.
