Cops: Hanahan woman arrested after baby found drinking vodka

HANAHAN, SC (WCSC) - A Hanahan woman was arrested after a police officer found an infant child drinking vodka.

The Hanahan Police Department charged 31-year-old Miranda Shane Webster with unlawful conduct towards a child.

On Wednesday night, an officer responded to an apartment on Mabeline Road for a report of a baby drinking alcohol, and a woman passed out inside a home.

A neighbor said he found an infant child drinking vodka in Webster's apartment.

The neighbor said he tried to wake up Webster, who was sitting next to the child, but she would not wake up due to her "highly intoxicated state." Medics arrived and took custody of the child.

The officer said after trying to wake Webster, she awoke after a few minutes.

A report states when the officer identified himself as a police officer, Webster responded in a "sexual manner" and told him go upstairs and he "could be next."

The officer reported that as Webster smoked a cigarette, he could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her.

Police say when the officer asked Webster if she knew that the child had consumed alcohol, Webster asked where her phone was.

Webster was then placed under arrest.

Hanahan medics transported the child to Trident Hospital for treatment.

DSS was also contacted, and a case worker responded to the hospital to take custody of the child.
