JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office investigated reports of shots fired Sunday, dispatch confirms.
The incident took place in the area of Traywick Avenue on Johns Island.
The call came in at approximately 5:20 p.m.
When deputies arrived on scene they found that two men were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation, according to police.
One of the men, who was the homeowner, brandished a firearm and discharged it in a manner that he described as "firing warning shots," police say.
The other man involved in the altercation fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies.
There have been no arrests at this time.
