CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston Walgreens was evacuated after authorities say two employees mixed cleaning chemicals, then started feeling ill.
The Charleston Fire Department responded to the store on King and Calhoun streets for a reported hazardous materials incident Thursday night.
"Two employees were working in the store and mixed multiple cleaning chemicals and then started to feel ill," CFD officials said.
The store was evacuated and both employees were transported by EMS as a precautionary members, CFD officials said.
CFD says Hazmat team members conducted air monitoring and ventilated the store.
"Crews have completed ventilation and will be clearing the scene shortly," authorities said.
Responders say they received a call about the incident around 7:11 p.m.
Residents reported numerous fire and police crews at the scene.
