CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Westbound lanes reopened to traffic on the Don Holt Bridge two hours after a vehicle fire blocked the roadway Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at approximately 3:51 p.m., according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. As of 4:50 p.m., the fire appeared to be out and authorities had reopened the left lane.
By 5 p.m., lanes had reopened to traffic.
Eastbound lanes were sluggish as drivers slowed to get a glimpse of the incident.
Despite a large backup shortly after the incident, drive times from West Ashley to Mount Pleasant did not show a huge increase.
