Wanted: Man attacks cashier at W. Ashley Walmart, takes money

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - Investigators are searching for a man who attacked a cashier at a Lowcountry Walmart and stole money.

Officials with the Charleston Police Department say the incident happened on Oct. 29 at 6 a.m. at the Walmart on 3951 West Ashley Circle.

According to police, the suspect appeared as if he was going to purchase a bottled drink.

As the cashier attempted to ring the purchase, police say he assaulted the employee and stole money from the opened register till.

Charleston Police Department officials describe the suspect as a black male, between 40 and 50 years old, about 5'5", around 160 pounds, 2" afro and scruffy facial hair.

He was last seen wearig a dark colored sweatshirt and khaki colored pants.

"It appears the suspect arrived at the store in a burgundy, older model SUV," CPD officials said.

According to police, a white male suspect also arrived in a vehicle, entered the business seconds before the strong armed suspect. This suspect shoplifted two packages of steaks and fled the store afterwards and left the business alone in a his vehicle.
