One dead following shooting at Summerville neighborhood

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Police say one person is dead following a shooting in Summerville Wednesday night.

Summerville police officials say officers responded to a shooting on Daffodil Street in the Robynwyn neighborhood at 7 p.m.

The Dorchester County Coroner's Office says several calls were received regarding shots fired in the area.

The coroner's office says law enforcement responded to the area and found a vehicle that had overturned and had struck a tree.

According to the coroner's office, the deceased male who was the driver of the vehicle was identified as 16-year-old Alfonza Campbell Jr. of Summerville.

A report states Campbell died at 6:51 p.m. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Police are asking witnesses to contact the Summerville Police Department at 843-875-1650 with information or call Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.

No suspects are currently in custody.
