CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - On any given day, there are lots of court cases that happen in Charleston.
But this month there are two big trials.
Michael Slager, the former North Charleston police officer charged with murder in the shooting death of unarmed Walter Scott, and Dylan Roof, the man charged with killing nine people at Mother Emanuel AME Church.
Just as they were last year, the eyes of America will again be on Charleston.
But just as the Lowcountry came together in unity then, we have the chance to come together again.
It's time for impartial juries to listen to testimony, examine the evidence, deliberate and determine verdicts. We have confidence in the legal system and in the judicial process. Both city and civil rights leaders have asked for prayers and peace during both trials.
That's a request I hope we all share.
