JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - 'Tis the season for a holiday light show and Charleston's most popular holiday event is about to kick off at James Island County Park.
The 27th annual Holiday Festival of Lights will feature an estimated two million lights along the three-mile loop with over 700 light displays. The festival is open 52 nights between Nov. 11, 2016 and Jan. 1, 2017.
In addition to the driving tour, the Holiday Festival of Lights also encourages guests to park and enjoy Santa's Village. The village includes marshmallow roasting for s'mores, train rides, an 18-animal carousel, Santa's Sweet Shoppe, other concessions and more. Special events and entertainment will also be scheduled throughout the festival. A Winter Wonderland sculpture made from 50 tons of sand is another highlight of the event.
Admission and hours for the festival vary daily. Weekday evenings, Monday through Thursday will benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. Guests can bring a canned food item or pet food item to donate and receive a discount on admission.
