According to the U.S. DOJ, the national average for the length of basic law enforcement training is 21 weeks. In South Carolina, officers are only getting 12 weeks.
The Academy is seriously underfunded compared to other states. In fact, the budget is so tight they’re clipping coupons just to put food on the table for recruits.
