GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - A 69-year-old Georgetown man has been arrested and accused of rape.
The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office charged James A. Gabella with first degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping.
Deputies located Gabella at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at his home and took him into custody.
The charges stem from an incident that happened earlier on Thursday at 1 p.m. when deputies responded to the Georgetown Tidelands Memorial Hospital in response to a sexual assault complaint.
A GCSO report states the victim said she arrived at the suspect's home to quote a house cleaning job.
"Once the victim entered the location, the defendant produced a weapon and forced the victim into a sexual battery," GCSO officials said.
Gabella was locked up at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
