MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC/AP) - Berkeley County officers arrested a man in Moncks Corner Saturday evening after what resulted in a police chase and drug bust.
According to a police report, Rashad Morton, 26 was pulled over initially for a traffic violation on Long Ridge Road and Cooper Store Road.
After providing requested information to the reported officer, he fled the stop, traveling approximately 100 mph.
Deputies chased his vehicle down Long Ridge Road, according to Berkeley County Sheriff's Office spokesman, Mike Cochran.
Cochran says deputies stopped Morton on Barefoot Road.
Upon searching Morton, in his pockets deputies recovered approximately 71 grams of marijuana, 1.3 grams of cocaine and three fully loaded ammunition magazines.
When searching his car, deputies found a firearm with a serial number that was reported stolen Sept. 21, 2016.
Morton is being charged with failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
Cochran says Morton's bond is set for $25 thousand.
