Holiday season begins with Christmas festivals and parades around the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -

It's time to light the Christmas trees and ring in another holiday season in the Lowcountry.

Cities and towns throughout the Lowcountry are holding Christmas tree lighting festivals and parades starting the first weekend in December to usher in the season. Here is a look at many of the festivals and parades, with links for more information.

Christmas Tree Lightings & Festivals:

  • Hanahan (Hanahan Amphitheater) - Friday, Dec. 2, 6 p.m.
  • North Charleston (Park Circle) - Saturday, Dec. 3, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Georgetown (Francis Marion Park) - Saturday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m.
  • Charleston (Marion Square) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Walterboro (Walterboro City Hall) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Moncks Corner (Unity Park) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 5:15 p.m.
  • Summerville (Hutchison Square) - Tuesday, Dec. 6, 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Mt. Pleasant (Coleman at Pelzer Drive) - Sunday, Dec. 11, 5:30 p.m.

Christmas Parades:

  • Hanahan (Hanahan High School) - Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.
  • Georgetown (Front Street) - Saturday, Dec. 3, 11 am
  • North Charleston (Park Circle) - Saturday, Dec. 3, 5 p.m.
  • Charleston (Colonial Lake to Marion Square) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 2 p.m.
  • Moncks Corner (Berkeley High to E. Main St.) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 3:30 p.m.
  • Walterboro (Colleton Center) - Sunday, Dec. 4, 6 p.m.
  • Folly Beach (West Ashley Ave/Center St.) - Saturday, Dec. 10, 1 p.m.
  • Summerville (Town Square) - Sunday, Dec. 11, 2 p.m.
