CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - It's been heartbreaking to watch events unfold in East Tennessee.
Raging wildfires have burned thousands of acres. More than 14,000 residents of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge were evacuated as fires burned hundreds of buildings, homes and tourist attractions.
At least seven people have been killed and more than a dozen people injured.
It's hard to watch the images. This is a popular place to visit and vacation. The bad news is this is not over yet. The fires continue to burn. People are risking their lives to put out the flames.
The good news is the region of the Great Smoky Mountains promises to rebuild.
Let's all do what we can. It will take money, so donate if you can.
One thing we can all do it say a prayer the fires will be out soon, no one else is hurt or killed, and the rebuilding and recovery process can begin.
