BEAUFORT COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

A pair of accidents in Beaufort County Wednesday left a pedestrian and a cyclist dead.

The first incident happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Highway 21 near Bruce Case Smalls Highway, South Carolina Highway Patrol Cpl. Sonny Collins said.

Troopers say a pedestrian was walking in the median and suddenly stepped into a southbound lane and was struck by a sport utility vehicle.

The pedestrian died as a result of injuries. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and no charges were filed, Collins said.

The second incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. on S.C. 270 when a person on a bicycle attempting to cross the highway was struck by an eastbound vehicle, Collins said.

The cyclist died as a result of injuries in that crash. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and no charges are expected to be filed, Collins said.

The identities of the two victims have not yet been released.
