CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Friday was a roller-coaster of a day in the Michael Slager Trial.
The jury has been deliberating the fate of the former North Charleston Police Officer charged with murder in the shooting death of Walter Scott: notes of a deadlocked jury, a lone holdout who said he would not change his mind, the strong possibility of a mistrial, then the suggestion from the jury foreman they might reach a verdict.
The day ended with the tired jury recessing until Monday morning when deliberations will resume.
Tensions are high and the outcome is uncertain.
I hope we'll all step back and let the judicial process work itself out.
When this incident happened almost 20 months ago, Charleston came together in hope and peace.
It's time we do that again.
