Police arrest robbery suspect accused of pulling knife on employee

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Charleston Police officer arrested a man accused of robbing a pharmacy and pulling a knife on an employee.

Investigators charged 48-year-old Daniel Thomas Martin of Charleston with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, police say a man entered the Walgreen's on 380 King Street, grabbed two bottles of wine and walked out of the store.

A report states an employee saw the suspect attempting to steal the wine and confronted him outside.

"That's when the suspect pulled out a knife and pointed it at the employee," Charleston police officials said.

The employee went back inside the store and called the police.

According to CPD officials, dispatch then provided a description of the suspect to all responding officers.

"Officer Simone Douglas arrested the suspect in Marion Square," police say.

Police are continuing the investigation.
