CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he allegedly shot a woman.
Ralph Gilliard, 32, was charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
On Saturday, shortly after 9 p.m., Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a home on Hazel Road to investigate a report of a shooting.
According to preliminary reports, Gilliard and the woman were arguing. The verbal dispute escalated and resulted in Gilliard shooting the woman in the head, deputies say.
The victim was transported by Charleston County Emergency Medical Service to the Medical University of South Carolina to be treated for her injuries.
Deputies say they were able to locate the weapon used in the shooting.
Gilliard was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and lodge in Al Cannon Detention Center.
Galliard was issued a $500,000 bond on the attempted murder charge. The man was also given a $50,000 bond on his charge of having a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Deputies say the victim is in stable condition at the hospital.
