JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators have released pictures of two suspects wanted for scamming a 71-year-old woman out of $1400 on Johns Island.

Last Tuesday, Charleston police officers responded to the Food Lion on Maybank Highway on Johns Island.

The victim says she was at the BI-LO on Maybank Highway around 1 p.m. when she was approached by a woman in front of the sushi display case.

According to the victim, the woman told her she found $66,000 and would split it with her but she needed the victim to withdraw $1400 for her.

While speaking to the first suspect, the victim said a second suspect approached.

The victim said she agreed to drive both of the suspects to her bank where she withdrew $1400 and gave it to both of the suspects.

Police say the victim then drove the suspects back to the Food Lion and was told to go inside and meet with the suspects' boss.

An incident report states the suspects then moved the victim's car to a different parking spot and left the scene.

Police accessed surveillance video which showed the suspects and the victim.

The first suspect is described as a black female in her 60s with black hair in a ponytail, between 5'5" and 5'8", 170 to 200 pounds, and wearing khaki pants and a black jacket.

Police describe the second suspect as a black female in her 60s with short black hair, between 5'5" and 5'8", 150 to 170 pounds, and wearing blue jeans and a khaki brown jacket.

Anyone with information about the suspects can call Investigator Richardson at 843 720 3916.
