JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

On Sunday morning at approximately 8:20 a.m., Charleston County Volunteer Rescue Squad, The Charleston Fire Department and St. Johns Fire Department were called out to help rescue a stranded horse.

The horse was stuck in pluff mud in the 2900 block of Plowground Road on John's Island.

CCVRS responded with the large animal rescue team and Rescue 608.

CCVRS reports that the horse was safely removed and back on solid ground within 30 minutes.

"Other than being cold and muddy there were no injuries to the horse or the crews working to get the horse out," members of Charleston County Volunteer Rescue Squad said.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office was also on scene to assist.
