Thieves steal trailer belonging to Berkeley County dance center

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies are searching for a trailer that was stolen from a dance center.

Investigators say the trailer was taken from the Creative Edge Dance Center on Clements Ferry Road at some time around 4:30 a.m. on Friday.

According to an incident report, the 5x10 Black Commodore trailer was parked behind the business.

The owner arrived for work and noticed the trailer was missing, the report states.

Owner Kasie Auten says the trailer contained props for dance competitions.

Stolen props include two ballet bars and a couch, the incident report states.

"I was very angry, very frustrated, don't understand why anybody would want to do that," said Emily Linville, a mother whose daughter attends the center.

"It's just messing with our rehearsal time and we have to replace our props," said Jenna Peterson, a dancer."We have to re-block our dances and get used to new movement with the props. It's kind of a hassle to get through."

Auten says surveillance video showed three suspects.

She says the video shows one suspect on a motorcycle and the other two in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Auten says there is a dent on the front bottom of the trailer.

"They had like a wrench and they cut the lock and they seemed really quick about it," Peterson said."It seemed like they had a plan."

While the rehearsals go on for this weekend's competition, the owner of the studio is trying to find another trailer to get there.

"It makes me feel kind of frustrated because we worked hard and now we have to re-block each dance to make up for the props, the new props," said Claire Morgan, a dancer.
