Deputies: Teen arrested in fatal Mt. Pleasant shooting

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies say they have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a deadly Mount Pleasant shooting.

Sky'lur Green is charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson said.

Charleston County deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Boston Grill Road on Feb. 24 shortly after 4 p.m. Deputies say they were directed to a parked car on Kidmore Road where they found a wounded man in the front seat.

The vehicle was also observed with multiple bullet holes and busted windows, they say.

Justin Nelson, 22, died at MUSC the following morning from a gunshot wound, according to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton.

Court documents state investigators interviewed Green on Saturday after he was arrested on unrelated charges. During that interview, investigators say Green provided a video statement in which he said that he met with the victim at the incident location and, "after a certain action took place," he shot at the victim several times with a .40 caliber handgun.

The affidavits do not describe what action precipitated the shooting.

Green was being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing Wednesday morning.
