The Lowcountry Food Bank received a 40,000-pound macaroni and cheese donation Thursday.
The Land O’Lakes First Run Program has made over one hundred donations since it was established in 2010, Lowcountry Food Bank spokesperson Hailey Ezekiel said. The program is committed to donating truckloads of fresh product year round, made specifically for food banks to help alleviate hunger nationwide.
“We are extremely grateful to Land O’ Lakes for their generous donation,” Pat Walker, President and CEO of the Lowcountry Food Bank, said. “With this donation, the Lowcountry Food Bank will be able to reach thousands of our neighbors in need."
The First Run program is part of Land O’Lakes’ Feeding Our Communities initiative.
The Lowcountry Food Bank serves the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina and aims to distribute more than 26 million pounds of food each year, spokesperson Hailey Ezekiel said.
