CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - New information was released Friday about details in the state trial against former North Charleston police officer, Michael Slager.
Slager will appear in court next week for hearings in both the state retrial and his federal trial. A judge will hear the motions filed in the retrial Tuesday at noon.
The state wants a judge to deny Slager's defense's request to dismiss the murder charge.
The defense claims after a mistrial was declared in his first trial, jurors said they agreed Slager was not guilty of murder, and that retrying him on that charge would be double jeopardy.
The state says there was no indication from the jury a unanimous decision was reached on any charge.
A judge declared a mistrial after the jury could not reach a unanimous decision on murder or manslaughter charges.
A pretrial conference in the federal trial is scheduled for next Friday at 9AM. Slager faces civil rights charges in federal court.
The state retrial is scheduled for August 28th.
