COLLETON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Troopers with the SCHP say they are investigating a wreck that injured two people and killed another.

At approximately 3:19 p.m. Troopers responded to the 6800 block of Sidney's Road near Skull Swamp Lane for reports of an overturned vehicle.

A woman was driving a 2005 Subaru Impreza traveling north, when she ran off of the right side of the road at a high rate of speed, they say.

The car traveled down a small embankment, struck a stump and began to flip over several times, before striking several trees.

An adult male occupant, that was the right-front passenger, was ejected from the car and found in a wooded area a few feet from the car.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, and died at the scene, they say.

Colleton County Firefighter-Paramedics arrived to find the heavily damaged car on the northbound shoulder in the tree line.

An adult female and a female child were out of the car with bystanders.

The adult female was not wearing a seatbelt, they said.

Crews treated both female patients at the scene and transported the adult to the Trauma Center at Trident Medical by Fire-Rescue Medic 26.

The child was transported to Colleton Medical Center by Fire-Rescue Medic 9.

The Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and transported the male patient.

Sidneys Road in the area of the accident was closed for three hours.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
