Turkey crashes through truck's windshield, driver suffers minor injuries

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

One person was transported to the hospital after a turkey crashed through the windshield of a truck in Charleston County. 

Officials with the Awendaw-McClellanville Consolidated Fire District say the incident happened at 1:49 p.m. on Monday. 

According to emergency officials, a turkey ran out into traffic in the 6200 block of Highway 17 near lower Doar Road. 

A passing truck then struck the turkey which went through the windshield and ended up in the passenger seat of the cab. 

The driver suffered minor cuts and the turkey died at the scene, emergency officials said. 

The CCSO is investigating the incident.
