DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - The Dorchester County School District Two Board of Trustees released its newly-approved school calendar for the fall.
The board voted unanimously to approve the calendar, according to DD2 spokesperson Pat Raynor.
The calendar has teachers returning on Aug. 14 and students starting classes on Aug. 22. The last day of the school year for students will be June 1, 2018.
The board also voted to waive three days missed in September and October. A total of six days were missed in 2016: Sept. 2, Oct. 5-7 and Oct. 10-11. The October dates were in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
The district has already used three designated make-up days, Oct. 17, Jan. 2 and Feb. 20, for three of those missed dates, Raynor said.
