BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Berkeley County deputies are investigating after an argument led to a shooting.

At approximately 10:44 a.m., deputies responded a report of a shooting victim who had been driven to Trident Hospital in North Charleston, Berkeley County Chief Deputy Mike Cochran said.

The shooting happened outside a home in the 100 block of Pineshadow Drive. Cochran said the victim, a 22-year-old man, was standing with several others when an argument led to gunfire.

The victim, whose name was not released, was shot multiple times at close range, Cochran said.

Law enforcement was not called to the scene, but hospital staff notified authorities when the shooting victim arrived.

Cochran said the victim is not cooperating with investigators.

The gunman ran on foot toward a nearby Food Lion and then fled the area in a vehicle, deputies say.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office at 843-719-4412.
