NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A Lowcountry man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls.

Solicitor Scarlett A. Wilson announced that a Charleston County jury convicted Brian Christopher Daugherty on four counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the first degree, two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, and two counts of lewd act upon a minor.

Prosecutors say the victims, who were between the ages of six and eleven at the time of the abuse, were repeatedly assaulted by Daugherty over a two-year period from 2009 to 2011.

"The defendant dated a relative of the victims and lived with them in a North Charleston apartment complex," prosecutors said.

Court documents state he forced the victims to watch pornography and assaulted them numerous times in his car and in the home, while other family members slept or were away.

"Both victims took the stand at trial and confronted their abuser," the solicitor's office said."Assistant Solicitors Debbie Herring-Lash and Dan Poulos praised the victims' courage in coming forward and recounting the traumatic events at trial."
