RIDGEVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Officials say one person is dead, and another is injured after a shooting that took place Sunday afternoon.

"Apparently a gentleman came to this residence encountered an argument with a gentleman that was here and ended up shooting one another." Bill Salisbury, Berkeley County Coroner said.

Ishmel Rivers, 23 of Ridgeville, was transported to Trident Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The incident happened at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Garden Court off of Highway 27, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is investigating the double shooting.

One victim was transported to Summerville Medical Center by people that were at the incident location, while the other was transported by ambulance to Trident Hospital in North Charleston.

The victim that was transported to Trident Medical Center died from injuries sustained in the shooting, deputies say.

The condition of the other victim is unknown at this time.

"It's an ongoing investigation...trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together." Salisbury said.
